Who is Engineers Australia?

Engineers Australia is the largest and most diverse body of engineers in Australia. As Australia’s principal engineering association we serve and represent around 100,000 professionals at every level, across all fields of practice. We are committed to advancing engineering and the professional development of our members.

What is the Australian Engineering Conference?

The Australian Engineering Conference aims to bring together all areas of the engineering profession, with national and international keynote speakers inspiring delegates and influencing the future direction of engineering in Australia. It is the flagship event for the engineering profession, attracting a diverse range of delegates from around the country and overseas. More than 1200 delegates are expected to attend the conference over the three-day period from the 17 – 19 September 2018.

How many people are expected to attend the conference?

More than 1200 delegates are expected to attend the conference over the three-day period from the 17 – 19 September 2018.

What is the dress code for the conference?

During the conference days, business attire is preferred.  The minimum dress standard for the welcome reception and the conference dinner is business attire or cocktail.

Registration

Do I need to be a member of Engineers Australia to attend the conference?

Conference registration is open to both members and non-members of Engineers Australia. You do not need to be an Engineers Australia member to attend the conference.

Is there a special conference rate for students? 

Yes, there is a student rate available to attend the conference, please refer to the registration page of the conference website for full details.

What if I want to register more than one person?

Group registrations are available. Conference registrations cannot be shared by individuals, even if from the same organisation. Group registration discounts and one-day registration options are provided for this purpose. Please refer to the registration page of the conference website for full details.

Can I attend for only one day of the conference?

Yes, you can. Day registrations include access to all sessions, exhibition area and day catering on the selected day.

If you choose to attend on Tuesday 18 September, you will have the choice of one forum and access to the afternoon sessions in the program.

What is included in my registration?

Conference registration entitles all delegates to the following:

  • Three (x3) day conference attendance: Monday 17 September to Wednesday 19 September 2018
  • Option of attending one (x1) off-site forum of their choice on Tuesday 18 September
  • Option of attending one (x1) on-site forum of their choice on Wednesday 19 September
  • Access to the Exhibition Hall
  • Catering, including morning/afternoon teas and lunches
  • One ticket to Networking Reception Drinks – Monday 17 September
  • One ticket to Conference Gala Dinner – Tuesday 18 September
  • Access to the conference app prior to the conference to commence discussion and plan your conference experience.

Will I earn CPD hours for attending the conference?

Yes, you will. One (x1) hr of CPD will be awarded per hour of conference sessions

Can I choose my own offsite forum to attend?

Yes, you can. There will be a total of 12 different offsite forums available to delegates. Each offsite forum will have a maximum capacity so you will need to register your interest to attend the forum of your choice. Technical demonstrations and presentations will also form part of the off-site forum visit.

There will also be an additional onsite forum, that will be held at the ICC, at the same time as the offsite forums are taking place. Delegates can register for this forum in the same way as the offsite forums.

Where can I network?

There will be plenty of networking opportunities available to delegates during the conference including:

  • “Engineering drinks on the balcony” networking opportunity
  • The Australian Engineering Conference Gala Dinner
  • Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea breaks
  • Exhibition area

Can I bring extra guests to the social events?

Additional tickets to the conference gala dinner can be purchased during the registration process. Guest tickets to the welcome reception on Monday 17 are not available.
